GENERAL AID CALENDAR

IMPORTANT DATES/DEADLINES

December
In preparation for the filing of next year's FAFSA, continuing applicants will be mailed PIN numbers that will allow you to submit your application electronically. The parents of dependent applicants will also need a PIN number (the parent's PIN number will not be sent by mail). You and your parent can also obtain a PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov .

January 1 - March 2

  • Interested undergraduate and graduate students, both entering and continuing, must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the processor. Completion of the FAFSA is required for all financial aid programs.
  • Continuing undergraduate students applying for scholarships must complete a separate University of California Scholarship Application.
  • Students applying for the first time to any of the California Grant Programs (Cal Grants or Graduate Fellowships) must submit the GPA Verification Form to the California Student Aid Commission. (TOP)

March 15 – May 31
Entering undergraduates and graduate students will be able to access their electronic Provisional Award Letter (ePAL) via MyFAO (www.fao.ucla.edu).

April 1 – May 1

  • UCLA Summer Session Financial Aid Applications are available on-line at the Financial Aid Office website beginning April 1 for continuing undergraduates and graduates. (TOP)
  • Summer application information for other summer programs (UC Cross Campus, Summer Travel) becomes available. (TOP)

Missing Information notices will be posted to MyFAO, if additional documents are needed in order to process your financial aid. For entering students, Missing Information notices are made available once they submit their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR).

May 1 - September
Electronic Financial Aid Notifications (eFAN) are generated for entering and continuing undergraduate and graduate students. eFAN information is posted on MyFAO.

06/19/08 - Refunds are issued (for paper refund checks check with Student Accounting).

06/20/08 - Session A fee payment deadline.

06/23/08 - Session A instruction begins.

July 2008

07/11/08 - Verification of Session A units.

07/25/08 - Summer Session C money disburses to BAR and fees are paid.

07/31/08 - Refunds are issued (for paper refund checks check with Student Accounting).

August 2008

08/01/08 - Session C fee payment deadline.

08/04/08 - Session C instruction begins.

08/22/08 - Verification of Session C units.

08/12/08 - Fall Quarter fees assessed in BAR.

September 2008

09/12/08 - End of Summer Sessions.

09/16/08 - Financial Aid money disbursed to BAR to pay fall fees.

09/18/08 - BruinDirect Refunds Issued (check with Student Accounting).

09/22/08 - Paper refund checks mailed (check with Student Accounting).

09/25/08 - Instruction begins.

09/26/08 - Fall classes dropped for non-payment of fees.

October 2008

10/17/08 - Verification of Fall units.
